Culmination Requirements
Each semester students must take the following required courses:
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Science
- Physical Education
- Elective
Each semester course gives the student 5 units. If a student fails a course, he/she should attend summer school to replace the units, when offered. Each summer school class is equivalent to one semester of school and will therefore be worth 5 units. Students are not eligible to culminate if they fail a total of four semester classes (in any combination of subjects) of if they receive two fails in the same subject area. For example, if a student fails a semester of Language Arts 6 (and does not attend summer school to replace the units) and one semester of Language Arts 7 or 8, the student will not participate in culmination activities or proceed to a Las Virgenes high school until one semester of Language Arts is made up during summer school.
Culmination Speeches:
Ineligible students (below 90 points) may not present speeches or attend culmination. Students submitting speeches must have no "N's" or "U's" in conduct.
