6th GRADE

Students expand their understanding of history by studying the people and events that ushered in the dawn of the major Western and non-Western Ancient civilizations. Emphasis is on the lives, problems, and accomplishments of the people, their roles in developing social, economic, and political structures. The Tan Festival serves as a highlight to the year's conclusion.

7th GRADE

Students study the social, cultural, and techological changes that occurred in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The course units cover the history and geography of the great civilizations that were developing concurrently throughout the world during medieval and early modern times. Students will demonstrate knowledge of medieval times as they participate in A.E. Wright's Medieval Market.


8th GRADE

Students in the 8th grade study ideas, issues, and events in American history, including the framing of the Constitution, the development of American politics, culture, and economy, and how these relate to the emergence of major regional differences. Concepts include the challenges facing the new nation with an emphasis on the causes, course, and consequences of the Civil War.
