The transition from elementary to middle school can be a time of great anticipation, excitement, and perhaps a little anxiety for parents and students. We at A.E. Wright understand and try to make this change as easy as possible. Our counselors visit Round Meadow, Lupin Hill, Chaparral, and Sumac Elementary Schools each year in March/April. We explain the middle school schedule and answer all your students' questions about issues like electives, P.E. locker rooms, dealing with locks, changing classes, etc. Students will receive their elective selection sheet at that meeting.
Open enrollment for new families will begin in April 2017. Spedifice dates are yet to be announced.
If your child will be attending A.E. Wright on a permit, your child will fill out an elective sheet when you come to enroll. Please contact the A.E. Wright Counseling Office, at 818-880-4614, ext. 289 for questions.
If you have moved into our boundaries or are returning to A.E. Wright from a private school, please contact the Counseling Office, 818-880-4614, ext. 289 to set up an enrollment appointment.
All incoming students will take a math placement test. Students may also take a reading comprehension test. Students who wish to take Honors English and/or Honors Social Studies will need to take an entrance exam. Entrance exams for permit or new students will be held in May.

Camp Sparty: We know the transition can be difficult from elementary school to middle school. Going from one classroom to having six different classes. Each year our Leadership class consisting of 7th and 8th graders hosts Camp Sparty on the day before the first day of school from 9am to 12pm. All incoming 6th graders are invited to attend!! During Camp Sparty, new students will meet current students (leadership students) and other 6th graders! Students play games, win prizes, get to know other 6th graders, have questions answered, have a tour, and just have FUN!! 6th graders can register on registration day in Room 16. Cost per student: $20 (lunch and t-shirt included). If you have questions please contact Ms. Trupp at email@example.com (Leadership teacher).
